Travel through Uganda's most spectacular wildlife destinations before crossing into Rwanda, combining classic safari, chimpanzee and gorilla trekking, community experiences, dramatic landscapes and time in Kigali.

Your Journey

​

Day 1 – Arrival in Uganda
Arrive in Uganda and meet your guide before transferring to your accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, relax and settle in or begin exploring the local area.

​

Day 2 – Kampala → Murchison Falls National Park
Begin your journey north towards Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's largest national park. Travel through the Ugandan countryside, passing rural communities and changing landscapes before arriving in the Murchison Falls region.

​

Day 3 – Murchison Falls Safari
Head out on a game drive through Murchison Falls National Park, exploring its open savannah landscapes in search of wildlife.

Look out for elephants, giraffes, buffalo, antelope, warthogs and abundant birdlife as you explore one of Uganda's classic safari destinations.

Day 4 – Boat Cruise & Transfer
Enjoy a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile, travelling towards the base of the spectacular Murchison Falls. The river provides opportunities to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants and a wide variety of birds along its banks.

Continue your journey onwards, taking in Uganda's changing landscapes as you travel south.

Day 5 – Murchison Falls → Kibale Forest
Travel towards Kibale Forest National Park, passing through rural Uganda and increasingly lush landscapes.

Kibale is renowned for its incredible primate diversity and is the perfect base for tomorrow's chimpanzee trekking experience.

​

Day 6 – Chimpanzee Trekking
Enter Kibale Forest for an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience. With experienced guides and trackers, explore the forest in search of wild chimpanzees.

Keep an eye out for other primates, birds and forest wildlife as you explore this spectacular tropical ecosystem.

Day 7 – Kibale → Queen Elizabeth National Park
Continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park, travelling through some of western Uganda's most beautiful landscapes.

As the forest gives way to open savannah and wetlands, look out for elephants, buffalo, antelope and other wildlife along the route.

Day 8 – Queen Elizabeth Safari & Boat Cruise
Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park on a wildlife safari, searching for elephants, buffalo, Uganda kob, warthogs and other species.

Later, take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, connecting Lakes Edward and George. The channel is home to large numbers of hippos and provides excellent opportunities to see crocodiles, elephants and numerous bird species from the water.

Day 9 – Queen Elizabeth → Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Travel south towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through the spectacular hills and countryside of southwest Uganda.

As you approach Bwindi, the scenery becomes increasingly mountainous and forested. Arrive in the area and prepare for your gorilla trekking experience.

Day 10 – Gorilla Trekking
Experience one of the world's most extraordinary wildlife encounters with gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Trek through the ancient forest with experienced guides and trackers in search of one of Bwindi's habituated mountain gorilla families. Once located, spend time observing these remarkable animals in their natural environment.

Day 11 – Batwa Community Experience
Discover more about the Batwa people, an Indigenous people of the Great Lakes region with a long history and deep connection to the forests of southwest Uganda.

Learn about Batwa history, culture and contemporary life through a community-led experience, which may include storytelling, traditional music and dance, demonstrations of traditional skills and conversations with community members.

Where possible, these experiences are designed to provide direct economic benefits to Batwa participants and support local community initiatives.

Day 12 – Bwindi → Rwanda
Cross the border from Uganda into Rwanda, travelling through the beautiful mountainous landscapes of the region.

Continue towards Rwanda's northern volcanic region, with opportunities to experience local scenery and communities along the way.

​

Day 13 – Volcanoes National Park → Kigali
Explore the spectacular surroundings of Volcanoes National Park, dominated by Rwanda's dramatic volcanic mountains.

Continue onwards to Kigali, Rwanda's vibrant capital city, enjoying the changing scenery as you travel from the mountains towards the city.

Day 14 – Kigali City Experience → Departure
Spend your final day exploring Kigali, with opportunities to experience the city's culture, markets, neighbourhoods and landmarks before transferring to the airport for your departure.

​
