Gorillas & Community Tour (4 days)

Experience the best of southwest Uganda in just four unforgettable days, combining mountain gorillas, spectacular lakes, wildlife and meaningful cultural experiences.
 

This tour will commence with an unforgettable trek into the Impenetrable Forest to find one of the gorilla families where you will be allowed to sit and watch them for up to one hour. Alongside this encounter of a life time, a community experience offers the opportunity to meet Batwa people and learn about their culture and history directly from community members. Activities may include storytelling, traditional music and dance, demonstrations of traditional skills and conversations about contemporary Batwa life.
 

Where possible, these experiences are designed to directly benefit the local community by providing income for Batwa participants and supporting community initiatives.

Day 1 – Kampala/Entebbe → Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Travel south through the beautiful Ugandan countryside towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to almost half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas.
 

Day 2 – Gorilla Trekking → Lake Bunyonyi
Enjoy the unforgettable experience of trekking through Bwindi's ancient forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. After your trek, travel to stunning Lake Bunyonyi, surrounded by lush green hills and scattered islands.
 

Day 3 – Lake Bunyonyi → Lake Mburo National Park
Continue your journey towards Lake Mburo National Park, travelling through rural Uganda and experiencing the landscapes and communities along the way. Lake Mburo is home to wildlife including zebras, impalas, elands and hippos.
 

Day 4 – Game Drive → Batwa Community Experience → Departure
Begin with a game drive through Lake Mburo National Park, looking for wildlife across its open grasslands and woodland. Depending on your departure arrangements, enjoy a Batwa community and cultural experience, meeting community members and learning about their history, traditions and contemporary lives.
